[01] EVACUEES - NUMBER DECLINES
The number of foreign nationals fleeing from the Israeli bombardment of
Lebanon to Cyprus has declined, according to official estimates.
In the morning hours around two thousand people arrived at Larnaca and
Limassol ports in an effort to depart via air for their final
destinations.
The CRETE II vessel brought around 300 passengers from war-torn Lebanon
and the ``ÉERAPETRA`` 1,044 evacuees to the port of Larnaca.
The Orient Queen docked at Limassol port with 465 passengers, among
which 255 American citizens and 126 Lebanese nationals.
Yesterday, only two ships arrived in Limassol, RAHMAH with 145
passengers (108 Americans, 34 Lebanese and two Canadians) and the
Vittoria-M with 282 foreign nationals, (201 Americans, 70 Lebanese and
7 Australian).
Since 19 July around 16,013 evacuees from Lebanon have used Cyprus as
their first stop after Lebanon.
