    Cyprus and Recognised Organisations sign agreement on ship inspection

    Nicosia, Oct 3 (CNA) ---- The Republic of Cyprus and the Recognized Organizations have signed an agreement regarding the inspection of ships flying the Cyprus flag.

    According to an official press release issued today, the agreement was signed last week in respect of the delegation of statutory surveys, inspections and certification services for ships flying the Cyprus flag.

    EP President: EU will continue to work for Cyprus reunification

    Larnaca, Oct 3 (CNA) --- The European Union will continue making efforts to achieve the reunification of Cyprus, President of the European Parliament Josep Borell reassured today, noting that the island cannot remain divided.

    Borell, who arrived here for an official visit, also stated that the EP voted in favor of the opening of accession negotiations with Turkey, provided that Turkey would soon recognize Cyprus.

    President of the Cypriot House of Representatives Demetris Christofias, who officially welcomed Borell at the airport, thanked the President of the EP as well as the EP plenary for their support towards the EU principles, as expressed in the EP's resolution regarding Turkey's EU accession course, especially those principles that are linked with the Cyprus problem.

    British Presidency issues declaration on negotiating framework paragraph

    Luxembourg, Oct 3 (CNA) -- A statement by the British Presidency issued here said ''paragraph 7 (former paragraph 5) of the negotiating framework, which is covering all relevant international organisations can not be interpreted as prejudicing the autonomy of decision making an rights of any of those international international organizations or of their members or of the members - states of the European Union.''

    The statement has been issued with the consent of the Council.
