Gentle and locally up to moderate easterly to southeasterly winds will generally be blowing, expected locally fresh in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 33 to 34 degrees centigrade inland, 31 to 32 over the coasts and 25 to 26 over Prodromos. Minimum temperature generally 19 to 20 degrees centigrade inland and over the coasts and 15 to 16 degrees over Prodromos. The state of sea will be up to slight. On Saturday (September 17) local showers are likely, but periods of mainly fine weather are also expected. Winds are expected to gradually veer southwesterly to westerly, generally gentle to moderate. No significant change in temperature is expected. Replying to questions as regards the meeting of COREPER on the EU counterstatement that will respond to Ankara's declaration of not recognizing the Republic of Cyprus, Chrysostomides said the EU British Presidency ''is obliged to take into considerations the view outlined by other EU member states and of course by Cyprus and submit a new draft that will respond to the expectations both of Cyprus and other member states which spoke during COREPER.'' According to the press release, Moller will replace Zbigniew Wlosowicz (Poland) who will complete his assignment on 30 November 2005. [07] Bank ïf Cyprus to proceed with share capital increase1850:CYPPRESS:07Bank Of Cyprus to proceed with share capital increase Nicosia, Sep 15 (CNA)--The Bank of Cyprus (BOC) Board of Directors decided today to proceed with a share capital increase in the form of a Rights issue which will grant the Bank a total proceeds of approximately C£110mn (193mn). A BOC press release issued here today notes that the Rights will be allotted to eligible shareholders in the ratio of one new share for every six existing shares. The exercise price will be 1,40 Cyprus pounds (2,461) per share. [08] Cypriot opposition party calls for a clear EU counterstatement1940:CYPPRESS:08Cypriot opposition party calls for a clear EU counterstatement Nicosia, Sep 15 (CNA)-- Cyprus' main opposition party Democratic Rally (DISI) President Nicos Anastasiades has sent a letter to European party leaders, members of the European People's Party (EPP), calling for a clear EU counter-statement to neutralise Ankara's declaration that it does not recognize the Republic of Cyprus. A DISI press release issued here today said that the letter was also sent to EPP President Wilfried Martens, EPP's Group in the European Parliament President Hans-Gert Poettering and European Parliament's External Relations Committee Chairman Elmar Brok. In his letter, Anastasiades points out the need for the EU to issue a clear counter-statement, which would neutralise the Turkish declaration and would put tight timeframes to Turkey for the implementation of the Protocol expanding its Customs Union to the EU ten new member-states, as well as the recognition of the Republic of Cyprus. Speaking during a press conference RELEX first Vice President Andreas Paleologos noted that on the basis of subsidiarity, which is supported by the EU, local authorities can exert pressure for the solution of problems faced by citizens both on national governments and on the EU. Addressing the opening ceremony, both Cypriot Interior Minister Andreas Christou, who spoke on behalf of Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos, and Cyprus Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides stressed the importance of local authorities.
