Tzionis: there is no proposal for the return of Varosha

Nicosia, Aug 12 (CNA) -- No proposal for the return of Varosha has been
put forward by the Turkish Cypriot side during talks in Brussels,
Ambassador Tasos Tzionis, Director of the President's Diplomatic Office
has said, pointing out that what was on offer was tantamount to
recognition by the Greek Cypriot side, in a legitimate manner, of an
entity in Cyprus' Turkish occupied areas, short of international
recognition.
''This is exactly what the Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat has
actually admitted in his statements to the New Anatolian paper,'' the
man who led the talks on behalf of President Tassos Papadopoulos has
told CNA in an interview.
