Christofias was speaking to a group of personalities invited to Cyprus by Famagusta Municipality to attend the annual anti-occupation demonstration to protest against the occupation of the eastern coastal town. According to a press release issued the House of Representatives, during the meeting Christofias briefed his interlocutors on the recent developments on the Cyprus problem, in relation with Turkey's course towards the European Union. [02] Increased security measures at Cypriot ports1300:CYPPRESS:02Increased security measures at Cypriot ports Nicosia, Aug 6 (CNA) -- The Republic of Cyprus has taken increased security measures at the ports of Limassol and Larnaca, after two Israeli flagged cruise ships, that were due to travel to Turkey, changed their course and docked at Limassol port due to information by the Israeli authorities that their safety was in danger. The cruise ships heading to Attalia, Turkey, anchored at Limassol port, whereas two other Israeli cruise ships, that followed their regular schedule docked at Larnaca port. In both ports and in the areas surrounding them the Cyprus authorities have taken extra security measures. Port Police Commander Antonis Siakalis told CNA that all four Israeli flagged cruise ships will depart this afternoon and return to Israel. Chrysostomides added that the government was aware of this flight for some time now and took action to prevent it both through the official channels of the Cypriot Foreign Ministry and Cypriot expatriates in the US.
