    Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 29/07/2005 to 30/07/2005

    Mainly fine weather is expected, with local mist and low cloud at times overnight and local cloud inland and over mountain areas, in the afternoons. Risk an isolated shower over mountain areas, on Saturday afternoon. Gentle sea breezes will generally be blowing in the mornings, while moderate and locally over the south fresh southwesterly to westerly winds, will prevail in the afternoons. Gentle, mainly katabatic winds will gradually develop overnight. Maximum temperature 37-38C inland, 32-33C over the south and east coasts, 29-30C over the west and north coasts, and 28-29C over Prodromos area. Minimum temperature 22-24C inland and over the coasts and 20-21C over Prodromos area.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 31/07/2005 to 01/08/2005

    No significant change is expected. Risk an isolated shower over mountai areas in the afternoons.

    Sea temperature: 24-27oC with the lowest temperature over the West and North and the highest over the South and East.

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) The Committee on Missing Persons, during a meeting today at Ledra Palace, received from the Inforce Forensic Archaeologist his third progress report on the emergency exhumations conducted so far.

    The CMP, held its 408th formal meeting at the Ledra Palace today and also considered certain documents presented by Members in connection with its investigative work.

    Cyprus supports EU accession of Croatia & other southeastern European states

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) Cyprus supports both the enlargement and the accession of Croatia and other southeastern European states to the EU, said the islands ambassador to Austria Stavros Epaminondas during the unofficial meeting of the European Affairs Ministers of southeastern Europe that took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, 8-10 July.

    The representatives of EU member states stressed the European prospects of countries of southeastern Europe and referred to the great efforts undertaken by these countries to satisfy the necessary conditions for accession to the EU.

    Commission appoints Heads of Representation in seven new member states

    Brussels, Jul 28 (CNA) -- The European Commission announced today the names of the candidates selected for the post of Head of Representation in seven new member states.

    A Commission press release said a letter offering the position of Head of Representation has already been sent to the candidates concerned.

    Themis Themistocleous, presently the Director of the Cyprus News Agency, has been selected as the new Head of Representation in Nicosia, Cyprus.

    DISY RTP: Cyprus dialogue must resume soon

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) -- Right-wing Democratic Rally Party (DISY) and Turkish Cypriot Republican Turkish Party have agreed on the need for the immediate resumption of dialogue that will lead to a mutually accepted settlement of the Cyprus problem.

    Speaking after a meeting of the two parties delegations at DISY headquarters here, DISY leader Nicos Anastasiades noted that the Annan plan remains the base for negotiations, while RTP President Ferdi Sabit Soyer did not exclude the possibility for the Turkish Cypriots to accept changes in the UN - sponsored plan as long as they dont affect the T/C rights.

    Hungary warns over property deals in occupied Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jul 28 (CNA) The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has advised over potential dangers for purchasers of properties in Turkish occupied north of Cyprus.

    According to an official press release, the travel advice issued by Hungary, after actions by the Cypriot Embassy to Budapest, warns the potential Hungarian buyers of immobile property with disputable ownership status to seek for an independent legal advice.
