Government forbids permanent construction on Turkish Cypriot property

Nicosia, May 24 (CNA) -- Since April last year, the Cyprus government has stopped allocating Turkish Cypriot properties in the southern government controlled part of the island for permanent construction, Interior Minister Andreas Christou said here today.

This, he pointed out, in spite of the construction boom in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus in the recent past.

Limassol, May 24 (CNA) A new case of illegal exploitation of Greek Cypriot property in the Turkish occupied north was reported today to the Cyprus Police.

Greek Cypriot refugee Andreas Poyiatzis, from occupied Rizokarpasso, visited Limassol Police and reported that during his last visit to the occupied areas a month ago, he spotted signs saying that a company called Levantine Property was selling three villas in the area and another three were to be constructed on his property, for sale.

Russian FM discourages use of illegal entry points into Cyprus

Nicosia, May 24 (CNA) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued a travel advice by which it discourages its citizens to enter Cyprus though illegal ports of entry. Moscow also discourages the purchase of Greek Cypriot property in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus.

It points out that decisions by Cypriot courts on such matters can be executed in Russia as well, a press release issued by the Cyprus Foreign Ministry said.
