Wednesday's meeting between the two sides lasted an hour. No statement was made on the part of the Cypriot delegation. A UN spokesman said ''discussions on substance will continue tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. Prendergast is currently engaged in consultations at the UN with a Cypriot delegation, led by presidential envoy Ambassador Tasos Tzionis, on the prospects of resuming negotiations for a political settlement. Prendergast, who is expected to visit the region for talks on Cyprus at the beginning of June, after taking accumulated leave due to him during the summer he will, at the Secretary General's request, spend the fall semester as a Goodman Fellow at Harvard University, where he will write a report drawing on his experience at DPA and recommending how the United Nations can best fulfil its responsibilities in the areas of mediation support and conflict resolution. The Board of Directors, which convened yesterday after the Shareholders' Annual General Meeting (AGM), also elected Andreas Artemis as Vice-Chairman of the Board. The wind will be initially northeast gentle breeze, 3BF and gradually will become gentle to moderate sea breezes, 3 to 4BF. The sea will be slight. Temperature will range between 18 and 37 degrees inland, between 20 and 31 degrees over the south and east coastal areas and between 16 and 27 over west coastal areas and over the mountainous areas. On Saturday afternoon, there is a probability of isolated showers, mainly over the mountainous areas and inland. Temperature will note a small decrease. Almunia gave a speech in Nicosia on ''Practical preparations for the introduction of the euro in Cyprus'' and expressed conviction that the government of Cyprus would continue to implement its convergence program with determination, as this would help reduce ''the relatively high public debt to GDP ratio''.
