President of EUMC is paying an official visit to Cyprus from 21-24 April, following an invitation by the Commander of the National Guard Lieutenant General Athanasios Nikolodemos. Earlier he was accepted by Minister of Defence Kyriacos Mavronicolas and by Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Athanasios Nikolodemos. ''The European Constitution sets certain principles which no negotiator, no third party can ignore,'' he stressed, noting that everyone understands the EU Constitution's importance with regard to a Cyprus solution. President Papadopoulos noted that this text will have to be discussed with Turkey on April 26, noting at the same time that this is a steadfast EU position, ''the so-called common position.'' Speaking at the formal ceremony for the presentation of the credentials, President Papadopoulos assured that ''we seek an agreed solution that should be the product of negotiations, without strict deadlines and arbitration and which would promote the true reunification of Cyprus, its territory, societies, economy and institutions.''
