[05] Papadopoulos: we want a solution leading to reunification2215:CYPPRESS:17Papadopoulos: we want a solution leading to reunification by Athena Arsalidou Prague, Apr 18 (CNA) --- The main aim of the Republic of Cyprus is the solution of the Cyprus problem that would lead to the real reunification of the island, in terms of geography, society, economy and institutions, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos stressed here tonight at the state banquet hosted in his honor by President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus. President Papadopoulos, in Prague on an official visit, also underlined that Turkey has to sign and put into force the Protocol Extending its Customs Union with all new European Union member states, including the Republic of Cyprus and noted that this would be a barometer for Turkey's political will to fulfill its obligations towards the EU. ''Turkey has very clear obligations towards the EU and the member states, which should be fulfilled in full. Signing and implementing this Protocol is a barometer for the political will of Turkey to fulfill its obligations towards the EU,'' he stressed. In his toast at the banquet, the Czech President said he was convinced that ''the EU membership of the Republic of Cyprus on the one hand and the European ambitions of Turkey on the other hand may help the reunification of the island but our own experience tells us that the solution must always come from the inside that is from those who actually live with the problem to be solved.''
