    Cyprus protests to UN over violations by Turkish military planes

    Nicosia, Dec 29 (CNA) -- Cyprus Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Andreas Mavroyiannis, in a letter to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, has protested the new mass violations of the national airspace of the Republic of Cyprus and the Nicosia Flight Information Region (FIR) by Turkish military aircraft between the second week of November until 15 December 2004.

    An official press release said in his letter, Mavroyiannis notes that it has been repeatedly pointed out that such actions are in flagrant violation of international law and air traffic regulations and seriously endanger international civil aviation.

    Cypriot Doctors of the World leave for Sri Lanka

    Nicosia, Dec 29 (CNA) -- A Cypriot mission of the Doctors of the World left for Sri Lanka this morning while a second mission is preparing to leave by the end of the week on a Greek Airforce plane.

    Vice President of the Cyprus Branch of the Doctors of the World, Maria Shakali told CNA that the Cypriot doctors are carrying with them 150 kilos of cholera, tetanus, hepatitis and scarlet fever vaccines to inoculate the more susceptible groups of people in the area of Galle which has been worst hit.

    Cyprus government approves 370.000 dollars aid to southeast Asia

    Nicosia, Dec 29 (CNA) Cyprus Cabinet approved today 370 thousand dollars in aid of the areas devastated by the southeast Asian tsunami, which has killed more than 60 thousand people and left many more missing.
