Annan: no basis to resume good offices mission on Cyprus at present

United Nations, Sep 14 (CNA) UN Secretary General Kofi Annan does not see a basis for resuming his good offices in Cyprus at this stage but instead wants a broad reassessment of the full range of United Nations Peace Keeping Force (UNFICYP) activities on the island.

UN Spokesman notes UN contribution to opening of Rizokarpasso school

United Nations, Sep 14 (CNA) UN Secretary-Generals Spokesman Fred Eckhard has noted the contribution of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus to the operation of a Greek language secondary school at the enclave of Rizokarpasso, in the Turkish occupied northern part of the island.

''With the help of the UN peacekeeping mission in Cyprus the Greek Cypriot enclave of Rizokarpaso in the northern part of the island now has its first Greek language secondary school'', he said.
