Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Sep 9 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Friday and Saturday: 10/9/2004 to 11/9/2004 ------------------------------------------- Fine but locally partly cloudy with risk of isolated showers, mainly over mountains in the afternoon. Winds will be southwesterly to westerly light to moderate and the state of sea slight to moderate. The maximum temperature on Friday will be around 31 C inland and over coastal areas and the minimum temperature 18 C inland and around 20 C over coastal areas. On Saturday it is expected to fall by a couple of degrees.

Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 12/9/2004 to 13/9/2004 ----------------------------------------------------- Fine with local cloud. Small increase in temperature is expected.

Nicosia, Sep 9 (CNA) - Commissioner responsible for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Franz Fischler said today that Cyprus ''has already shown its initiative and commitment'' to making progress and the government ''has already developed a constructive working relationship with Brussels.''

Commissioner says Cyprus agriculture to improve in five years

Nicosia, Sep 9 (CNA) - Commissioner responsible for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Franz Fischler said today that it would take roughly five years for the situation in Cyprus' rural sector to improve, adding that during a transition period of seven years there will be additional specific state aid possibilities available only for Cyprus and no other new member states.
