Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Jul 23 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Friday and Saturday: 30/7/2004 to 31/7/2004 ------------------------------------------- Fine and mostly clear. Winds will be light to moderate sea breezes and the state of sea slight but locally moderate, in the afternoon.

Maximum temperature: 38C inland, around 34C over south coastal areas and 31C over west coastal areas.

Minimum temperature: Around 23C inland and over coastal areas.

Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 1/8/2004 to 2/8/2004 ----------------------------------------------------- Fine with some local cloud. Small decrease in temperature is expected.

T/C daily says David Beckham to come to Cyprus

Nicosia, Jul 29 (CNA) -- Turkish Cypriot newspaper ''Yeni Duzen'' reported today that well known English footballer David Beckham arrives in Cyprus tomorrow to attend an event organised by a Turkish firm in the Turkish-occupied northern part of the island.

The Turkish Cypriot daily quoted ''TPS'' Marketting Director Mehmet Erureten as saying ''no problem about Beckham's coming''.

Cyprus to present proposals for Turkish Cypriots tomorrow

Nicosia, Jul 29 (CNA) - The Cypriot government will present tomorrow to the public its proposals and other unilateral measures to the European Commission, which aim at enhancing contact and economic relations between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, and facilitating the more effective implementation of the Green Line Regulation.

Neighbouring countries to get involved in regional research centre

Nicosia, Jul 29 (CNA) -- Cyprus Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister George Lillikas will have a series of meetings with neighbouring countries in order to explore whether they are interested in participating in the setting up of a Harvard University International Research Centre on the island, on public health and environmental issues.

Lillikas told CNA that the Ministry of Commerce has already prepared a letter, to be sent soon to the Ministers responsible for Research of the neighbouring countries, in order to start a dialogue regarding their involvement in the setting up of the research centre.
