    Nicosia, Jul 5 (CNA) -- Cyprus Ambassador Stavros Epaminondas was unanimously elected as one of the Vice Presidents of the first session of the Conference of the parties to the UN Convention against transnational organized crime and its protocols, which takes place in Vienna June 28 - July 9.

    Nicosia, Jul 5 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 06/7/2004 to 07/7/2004 ------------------------ The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday will be fine but misty over night. Gentle to moderate sea breezes are expected during day time, while light catabatic winds are likely over night. The temperature will range from 23 to 39 inland from 22 to 35 over the coastal areas and from 20 to 30 over the mountains.

    Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 08/7/2004 to 09/7/2004 --------------------------------- The weather on Thursday and Friday will be fine. Gentle to moderate sea breezes are expected during day time while light catabatic winds are likely over night. The temperature is not expected to note any significant change on Thursday but a small decrease is likely on Friday.

    Cyprus President joins in celebrations for Greek Euro 2004 triumph

    Nicosia, Jul 5 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos congratulated Greece on its triumph in Euro 2004 football tournament and invited the Greek national team to visit the island.

    Speaking at a reception, hosted by a jubilant Greek Ambassador Christos Panagopoulos to celebrate the victory of the national football team of Greece in Lisbon, Cyprus President said the outcome of the match was the result of methodical work, disciplined behavior and good planning.

    Olympic Torch to travel to Turkish occupied north of Cyprus

    Nicosia, Jul 5 (CNA) The Olympic flame will also burn in the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus, during its stop on the island on 8 July, last leg of its journey before returning to Athens.

    The Cyprus Olympic Committee and the Organizing Committee of the Athens 2004 Games have announced that ''within the spirit of the Olympic Relay 'Our Flame unites the world'' it has been decided that the Cyprus route of the Flame to cover the occupied part of the island with a restricted number of torch bearers''.
