Larnaca, May 20 (CNA) -- The possibility of Cyprus joining the Partnership for Peace was an issue which would be examined in the future, said here Thursday Defence Minister Kyriacos Mavronicolas.

Greek Premier underlines need for Cyprus reunification

Nicosia, May 20 (CNA) -- Greeces Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis has underscored, at a meeting with US President George Bush, the need to remain committed to the goal to reunite Cyprus.

Karamanlis made the statement after talks with the US President at the White House. Talks continued over a working lunch and contacts at the White House were completed with a meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney.

The Greek Premier said that among the issues the two discussed was the Cyprus problem.

I had the opportunity to tell President Bush that despite the recent developments, the result of the referenda (on a UN solution plan) should be respected since that was the will of the people, Karamanlis noted.
