    Washington, Mar 30 (CNA) -- State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher has said the US is working hard to support the UN Secretary-Generals efforts in Switzerland for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- The Greek Cypriot side is satisfied with some points in the revised Annan Plan presented to the parties on Monday by Secretary-General Kofi Annan, but is not satisfied as far as the fundamental points are concerned, Cyprus Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides has stated.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- The Prime Ministers of Greece and Turkey, Costas Karamanlis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, met Monday night at this Swiss alpine resort. Their discussion focused on the revised Annan plan the UN Secretary General presented yesterday to the parties involved in the Cyprus problem.

    Sources told CNA that the two premiers ascertained that "there are disagreements and problematic elements" in the revised Annan Plan on Cyprus.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos meets UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan at 1100 local time (1000 GMT) today to deliver the reply of the Greek Cypriot side on the SGs fourth revised plan for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem.

    Sources told CNA that the Greek Cypriot side will indicate to Annan the points in which it is not satisfied so that a discussion will follow.

    The Greek Cypriot sides reaction is based on the discussion held last night during a marathon meeting of the National Council, top advisory body to the President on the handling of the Cyprus problem.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is due to hold this morning separate meetings with Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and Mehmet Ali Talat, who represents here the Turkish Cypriot community.

    Diplomatic sources told CNA that Annan will ask from both sides their first reaction regarding his proposed revised plan for a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem he presented yesterday.

    "Annan will have separate meetings in the next couple of hours," the diplomatic sources told CNA, avoiding to give exact time.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) ---- The Greek Cypriot side handed over to the UN its initial reaction to the revised Annan plan, a proposal on a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus which was presented yesterday to the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides, Greece and Turkey.

    Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos and his negotiating team had an hour long meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to this effect.

    According to CNA sources, during the meeting Annan listened to the Greek Cypriot side's positions but made no comment.

    The Greek Cypriot side has asked for changes on several provisions of the plan, relating to Turkish settlers, permanent derogations from the acquis communautaire and security matters.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- The UN have received the reaction of the parties involved in the Cyprus talks to the UN Secretary General's revised proposal for a comprehensive settlement, Stephane Dujarric UN spokesman told CNA.

    Dujarric said the UN was evaluating the reaction and noted that contact with the parties continued.

    He clarified that the reaction of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides was handed over during separate meetings the heads of the delegations of the two sides had with Kofi Annan himself.

    Brussels, Mar 30 (CNA) - European Commissioner for Enlargement Gunter Verheugen sees points of approach at talks taking place in Burgenstock, Switzerland, to solve the Cyprus problem.

    Verheugen, who was in Burgenstock for the last stages of the UN-led talks between the Greek Cypriot side and the Turkish Cypriot side, has left for Strasbourg to brief his colleagues at the European Commission on a revised plan for a solution, presented to the sides by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan yesterday.

    Replying to questions, Verheugen's Spokesman Jean Christophe Filori said the Commissioner met today in Burgenstock with Annan, and yesterday had separate meetings with all involved parties.

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis is expected to discuss the Cyprus problem and Greco-Turkish relations with US President George Bush, during a forthcoming visit to the United States.

    Karamanlis sent a letter of reply today to US President George Bush, in which he assures that ''combating terrorism is all the more important as Greece will be hosting the Olympic Games this summer and it is one of my government's top priorities that all measures be taken to ensure the safety of the games.''

    He adds that he fully agrees with the point Bush makes in his March 29 letter ''on combating world terrorism and ensuring security and freedom for our people.''

    Burgenstock, Mar 30 (CNA) -- UN-led talks in Burgenstock, aiming at reaching a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem, have cost the Swiss government around 600,000 swiss francs, Micheline Calmy-Rey Swiss Foreign Minister said.

    Calmy-Rey has met with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, who expressed his gratitude for the help the Swiss government had offered for the Cyprus talks.
