    Washington, Mar 10 (CNA) -- The US has congratulated the Greek Prime Minister-elect and his New Democracy Party on their victory in parliamentary elections on Sunday and is looking forward to deepening cooperation for a Cyprus settlement.

    Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos criticised today Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash that not only he rejects the idea of the UN taking over the administration of the areas to be returned to the Greek Cypriot side, but also sets out other preconditions so that territories will not be returned to the Greek Cypriot side if the problems of Turkish Cypriots living now to these areas and to be removed are not solved.

    Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) Negotiations for a Cyprus settlement will break for one day, tomorrow Thursday, Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides confrimed to CNA Wednesday.

    The decision was also confirmed to CNA by UNFICYP Spokesman Bryan Kelly, who said "this is a pause for reflection and preparation for the intensification of the talks" that will follow.

    Cyprus appeals to German court over antiquities

    Nicosia, Mar 10 (CNA) - The Republic of Cyprus, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Maronite Church and the Armenian Church have taken a civil case before the Munich District Court, after instructions from the Attorney General of the Republic, to regain stolen Cypriot antiquities, which have been in the care of the Bavarian authorities since 1997.

    The antiquities were found by the Bavarian Police hidden between walls and under floorboards in two apartments of Aydin Dikmen, a Turkish national, in Munich, according to an official press release.
