[07] Cyprus hopes to open Technological University in 20061720:CYPPRESS:07Cyprus hopes to open Technological University in 2006 Nicosia, Mar 8 (CNA) - The Technological University of Cyprus, the establishment of which is proceeding, will host five schools and will hopefully be ready to function in the year 2006. Minister of Education and Culture Pefkios Georgiades told a press conference today that the Council of Ministers has already appointed the Technological University's President, Vice President and members of the Temporary Administrative Committee. The Committee's President Andreas Demetriou expressed hope that the Technological University would be able to function in the year 2006, based in Limassol, noting that it was ''a great challenge to develop and operate a second state university''. All members of the Committee are from the academic field, mostly Cypriots. The University's schools cover the fields of technological applications, health services, administration and economy, geotechnical science, environment management, and applied arts and communication.
