    Cyprus talks continue Tuesday

Nicosia, Mar 2 (CNA) -- Todays meeting within the framework of the UN-led negotiations aimed at resolving the Cyprus problem by May 1 will deal with the issues, which began yesterday, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos said.

Before his seventh meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, Papadopoulos also said it was not a matter of disagreement but rather an issue of how things are estimated, when invited to comment on statements made on Monday by three of his ministers over the cost of a solution.

It is not a disagreement. It is a matter of assessment whether (the cost) is tolerable or what is preferable and which is the greatest, President Papadopoulos remarked.

Reresponding to questions about todays procedure, President Papadopoulos said we continue with the issues that began yesterday.

The Cypriot President said he did not want to comment on statements made on Monday in Nicosia by US State Department Special Coordinator for Cyprus Thomas Weston.

The US envoy left early this morning for Athens where he will hold talks with Greece's Foreign Minister Tasos Yiannitsis.

Diamantouros said his office provides citizens an alternative method to exercise their rights and his duties concern only violations of European law by European institutions and it is not an appeals court where disgruntled EU citizens can resort if they are not happy with a decision taken at a national level.
