Tuesday and Wednesday: 23/12/2003 to 24/12/2003 ---------------------------------------------- Mainly cloudy weather is expected with local rain showers at times, mainly light on Tuesday. Northeastery to Southeasterly moderate to fresh winds will prevail, while locally strong on Wednesday. State of sea is expected rough, locally up to very rough, but generally moderate over parts of the west coast.

Maximum temperature around 6C inland, 8-10C over the coasts and -3C over Prodromos. Ground frost should be expected over mountain areas.

Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 25/12/2003 to 26/12/2003 --------------------------------------------------------- Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times, with snow falling over the mountains. Temperature is expected to fall on Friday.

G/C and T/C parties stress importance of Cyprus settlement before accesion

Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) -- Leaders or representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties stressed here today the importance of the period until May 1st 2004, in order to achieve a solution to the Cyprus problem so as to allow a reunited Cyprus to join the European union.

In a joint communique after their regular meeting at the UN-controlled Ledra Palace in Nicosia, at which they exchanged views on the prospect of a solution of the Cyprus problem, they welcomed the participation of the Turkish Cypriot Solution and EU party at the meeting for the first time.

Cyprus Eurocontrol office, bridge between two regions

Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) - The procedures for the opening in Cyprus of a regional office of the European organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation Eurocontrol will be discussed during a meeting here on 20 January.

Officials from Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria, Eurocontrol and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), who signed a protocol of cooperation on air navigation issues, will be participating in the meeting.

Cypriot politicians stress need for settlement the soonest

Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) - The result of the so-called parliamentary elections in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus, as well as the need to reach a political solution before the island's full accession to the EU in May 2004, were the issues raised today at a meeting between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot politicians.

Today's meeting, under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy in Cyprus, was attended by Greek Cypriot parties AKEL, Democratic Rally, Democratic Party, Social Democrats EDEK Movement, United Democrats, Movement of Ecologists and Environmentalists, Fighting Democratic Movement and Eurodemocratic Reformist Party.
