    Nicosia, Dec 8 (CNA) -- As Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2003 is expected to issue today in Abuja, Nigeria, its communique with a specific reference to Cyprus, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos discussed on the sidelines of the Meeting the Cyprus problem with Nigeria's President Olusegun Obasanjo and New Zealand's Prime Minister Helen Elizabeth Clark.

    Kazakhstan bank granted licence to operate IBU in Cyprus

    Nicosia, Dec 8 (CNA) - The Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus Christodoulos Christodoulou today granted a banking business licence to Kazkommertsbank of Kazakhstan, to carry on banking business in and from within Cyprus through a branch in the form of an International Banking Unit (IBU).

    This is the first bank from Kazakhstan that has been allowed to establish an IBU in Cyprus.

    Brussels, Dec 8 (CNA) - The Brussels European Council conclusions were prepared today, with the draft on Cyprus reiterating the Union's preference for a reunited island joining the bloc, so as to permit all Cypriots to benefit from accession.
