Speaking at a press conference after a lengthy meeting with parties involved, President Papadopoulos said the ''tourist road map'', charted out by the various ministries, aims to ensure that the country's economy is no longer dependent on tourism, without at the same time diminishing the importance of the tourist product and its contribution to the local economy. He said the Cyprus Tourism Organisation will be restructured to oversee the implementation of the strategic plan and added that a ministerial commission will be responsible to review developments in tourism and be accountable to the Cabinet. An Advisory Committee made up of representatives of various factors involved in the tourist industry will also help in this direction.
