Cypriot deputy calls on EP to safeguard lives of two T/C journalists
Nicosia, Oct 9 (CNA)-- Cypriot observer to the European Parliament
Panagiotis Demetriou called on President of the European Parliaments
Committee of Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok to urge Turkey to protect the
lives of two Turkish Cypriot journalists who have been threatened by an
extremist organisation in the occupied areas of Cyprus.
Editor Sener Levent of the Turkish Cypriot daily ''Afrika'' and
journalist Ali Osman received threats by members of the extremist
''Grey Wolves'' organisation in the Turkish occupied north of Cyprus
that they will be executed if they continue their criticism against
Turkey and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash.
