Nicosia, Aug 13 (CNA) -- Greek Parliament President Apostolos Kaklamanis has described the so-called framework agreement for a "customs union" between Turkey and the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime in occupied Cyprus "a provocation".

Ermou Street to get a face-lift

Nicosia, Aug 13 (CNA) -- One of the main commercial streets of the island, wasting away over the years since the Turkish invasion of 1974, will be gradually revamped in an effort to maintain its traditional and historic character, Nicosia Mayor Michael Zambelas told CNA today.

Work is expected to begin in mid September on the first phase to restore the buildings along the street, which touches on the buffer zone dividing the capital. It is estimated to cost 250,000 pounds, which will be granted by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
