Weather forecast for Cyprus

Nicosia, Aug 4 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

Tuesday and Wednesday: 5/08/2003 to 6/08/2003

WEATHER: Mainly fine with patchy cloud around midday. Probability of mist or fog patches and low cloud towards dawn.

Wind: NW'ly to SW'ly moderate to fresh during the day. W'ly to NW'ly gentle during the night.

State of sea: Slight to moderate during the day becoming smooth to slight overnight.

Temperature: Maximum temperature 38 Celsius inland, 34 Celsius over south coast, 31 Celsius. Minimum temperature around 23 Celsius.

Outlook for Thursday and Friday: 7/08/2003 to 8/08/2003

No significant change is expected.

Nicosia, Aug 4 (CNA) -- Two coastal towns of Cyprus, Limassol and Paphos, participate in the Euromediterranean Partnership Project (MEDA) called ''Energy and Urban Environment in the Mediterranean Countries''.

Central Bank announces lifting of exchange restrictions

Nicosia, Aug 4 (CNA) - The Cyprus Central Bank has announced the lifting of certain exchange restrictions, in the context of the preplanned gradual lifting of all restrictions by Cyprus' accession to the European Union in May 2004.

A Central Bank press release notes that the lifting of the restrictions is occurring earlier than the deadline agreed on with the EU and will have an immediate effect.
