[10] EU Commission adopts package of measures for Turkish Cypriots2000:CYPPRESS:10EU Commission adopts package of measures for Turkish Cypriots by Nicos Bellos Brussels, Jun 3 (CNA) -- EU Commission has adopted today a package of measures, aiming to promote economic development of the northern Turkish occupied part of Cyprus and bringing it closer to the EU. The Commission proposes financial assistance for 2003 worth 12 million Euro, of which 9 million is for economic development and 3 million for actions aimed at bringing the Turkish Cypriot community closer to the EU. The Commission's measures, which have been proposed by Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen, will be submitted to the EU Council of Ministers and the EU - Cyprus Association Council.
