    US says Cyprus negotiations must resume as soon as possible

    Washington, May 30 (CNA) -- It is the US goal to see the two sides on Cyprus resume negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations Good Offices Mission for Cyprus, on the basis of Secretary General Kofi Annan's settlement plan, a US State Department spokesman has said, underlining that ''these negotiations should resume as soon as possible.''

    St Petersburg, May 30 (CNA) -- The policy of Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Gul does not show any possibility for a change in the Turkish stance on Cyprus at the moment, Cypriot Government Spokesman Kypros Chrisostomides has said.

    Cyprus problem should be on EU agenda, says Pera

    Nicosia, May 30 (CNA) -- The Cyprus problem could and should be put on the EU agenda, President of the Senate of Italy Marcello Pera said today. Pera is currently visiting the island at the invitation of Cyprus House of Representative President Demetris Christofias.

    Speaking to the press after talks with Christofias, Pera said they had the opportunity to congratulate each other for the very good relations between Italy and Cyprus.
