Annan looking for political will to resume peace efforts

Athens, Apr 18 (CNA) -- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has said if he ascertains real determination and political will for a Cyprus settlement he would do everything possible to promote the effort.

He also said that changes on his peace plan could be made, provided it was acceptable as a basis for negotiations.

Simitis arrives in Cyprus for short visit

Nicosia, Apr 18 (CNA) - Greek Prime Minister and President of the European Council, Costas Simitis, arrived in Cyprus today for a 24-hour visit, inaugurating a tour that will cover 24 EU countries.

Simitis arrived tonight on the first leg of his tour, which will take him to 14 EU member states and the ten new countries that signed the Accession Treaty in Athens on April 16.
