Government Spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said the Cabinet examined the US request for facilities, bearing in mind todays events and the unfolding political circumstances. He said the cabinet also took into consideration earlier agreements between the two countries, under which Cyprus had granted facilities to the US. The Government Spokesman said the facilities would be granted on condition that civil aviation is not jeopardized. AFP quoted sources close to Eroglu as saying that the substance was sent for examination to a laboratory in the government-controlled areas of the internationally-recognized Republic through officials from the UN peace-keeping force in Cyprus.
