New York, Dec 17 (CNA) Cyprus has provided the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial aid to the tune of 80.000 US dollars in an effort to support a special committee, formed to draft a new constitution for Afghanistan.

Cyprus satisfied with EU decision on ESDP

Nicosia, Dec 17 (CNA) Cyprus Defence Minister Socratis Hasikos has expressed the government's satisfaction with the European Council's decision relating to the Republic's participation in the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP).

Speaking after a meeting with President Glafcos Clerides, the minister said that Cyprus will participate in all political and military bodies of the ESDP but it will not take part in EU military operations conducted with the use of NATO assets.
