    FM: UN blueprint addresses certain concerns of both sides

    Nicosia, Dec 2 (CNA) -- The blueprint submitted by the UN Secretary General for a solution to the Cyprus problem addresses certain concerns of both sides, but at the same time it creates new concerns at least for the Greek Cypriot side, Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has stated on his return from Stockholm, were he held talks with Swedish officials.

    Nicosia, Dec 2 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Tuesday and Wednesday: 3/12/02 to 4/12/02 -----------------------

    On Tuesday will be unstable with showers or local thunderstorms but on Wednesday fine with local cloud. Winds will be moderate southeasteasterly to southwesterly and the state of sea moderate but locally up to rough.

    Maximum temperature: Around 19C inland and over coastal areas. Minimum temperature: 10C inland and around 13C over coastal areas.

    Outllook for Thursday and Friday: 5/12/02 to 6/12/02

    Danish FM to visit Greece and Turkey

    Nicosia, Dec 2 (CNA) -- Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller, whose country holds the European Union rotating presidency, will travel to Turkey and Greece, Monday and Tuesday, to emphasise the significance of putting an end to the Cyprus problem.

    A press release from the Danish EU presidency said Moller would travel to Turkey and Greece on 2-3 December as part of preparations for the Copenhagen European Council on 12-13 December.

    UN hope to have comments on Annan proposal soon, says top envoy

    Constantinople, Dec 2 (CNA) United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan's Special Adviser, Alvaro De Soto said here Monday he hoped the two sides in Cyprus will convey their views about the Annan Plan in two days.

    De Soto described his meetings in Ankara with Turkish Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal as very positive, adding the UN will decide about their next steps after evaluating the views of both sides.

    National Council to continue discussion on Annan plan Tuesday

    Nicosia, Dec 2 (CNA) The National Council, the top advisory body to the President on the handling of the Cyprus problem, will continue on Tuesday morning a discussion on a UN proposal for a comprehensive settlement.

    The Council is set to decide its response to a letter the UN Secretary-General has sent to the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides inviting their comments on his plan.

    ''Our reply to Kofi Annan's letter will be given once the National Council concludes its discussion on the matter,'' President Glafcos Clerides told reporters here Monday after a day-long Council meeting.
