    by Apostolis Zoupaniotis

United Nations, Nov 19 (CNA) The UN has not yet received a response from Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash on the UN Secretary-Generals plan for a Cyprus settlement, said here Tuesday UN spokesperson, Hua Jiang.

Kofi Annan is still waiting for a response from Denktash and he still feels that both sides can come together and use his proposal as a basis for further comprehensive settlement, Hua said.

Asked how long the UN would be ready to wait for an answer from Denktash, the UN spokesperson referred to the statements made Monday by UN Secretary-Generals Special Advisor, Alvaro de Soto who said we do not want to put unfair pressure on the two sides, but the clock is ticking and we trust that a solution to the problem will be found.
