Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides is expected to brief the Council members on the outcome of his Saturday talks in Athens with the Greek Premier Costas Simitis. In today's session the island's political party leaders will inform the President if they accept or not the plan as a basis for negotiations. President Clerides will take the final decision on the issue. The announcement was made by Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou after a three-hour-long meeting of the Council, the top advisory body to the President on the handling of the Cyprus problem. The Council will convene again on 28 November. The spokesman said the Council reiterated the adherence of the Greek Cypriot side to finding a peaceful solution in Cyprus, without delay, through negotiations under UN Secretary General's auspices between the two communities.
