Annan meets Clerides and Denktash in New York

United Nations, Oct 5 (CNA) - UN Secretary General Kofi Annan met in New York with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, to discuss the Cyprus problem.

Speaking after the meeting, Denktash said they decided to meet again in November, at a venue to be set later on.

He added that two committees would be set up to deal with core issues of the Cyprus problem.

President Clerides did not make a statement, saying that the UN Secretary General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto would be making one soon.

The President wished Denktash a speedy recovery from the heart operation he will undergo on Monday.

At the meeting, President Clerides and Denktash were accompanied by their aides.
