Mediterrenean Greens: Turkey must actively support talks

    by Emili Lambrou

Droushia, PAPHOS, Jun 17 (CNA) -- The Mediterranean Greens have stressed that Turkey has to actively support the ongoing UN-led talks on the Cyprus problem "in order for a just and lasting settlement to be reached in the near future, on the basis of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions."

In a resolution unanimously adopted here yesterday by the European Network Meeting of the European Federation of Green Parties the Mediterranean Greens said the conclusions of the 1999 Helsinki European Council on Cyprus would apply fully should an agreement for a solution to the Cyprus problem prove impossible to achieve within the requisite time-frame.
