[01] Bethlehem militants to be flown to Cyprus before moving īn2400:CYPPRESS:17Bethlehem militants to be flown to Cyprus before moving īn Nicosia, May 9 (CNA) -- Under strict security measures, 13 Palestinian militants now besieged in the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem by Israeli troops, will be temporarily accommodated in Cyprus before being moved to other countries, Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides announced here tonight. He said the Cyprus government "has played a role, behind the scenes, in the effort to end the siege of the Church of Nativity." Kasoulides told a late-night news conference that the agreement for their transfer to Cyprus, probably tonight, and from here on to other countries, "was reached tonight" and said "an RAF aircraft will leave the Akrotiri British Bases (in Cyprus) for Tel Aviv in order to pick up 13 Palestinians and land on return at the Larnaca airport" to be handed over to Cypriot authorities.
