    Cyprus pleased with NAM communique

    Nicosia, Apr 30 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides has expressed satisfaction with a joint communique, adopted by the Coordinating Bureau of the Non Aligned Movement, at the conclusion of its two-day meeting in Durban, South Africa.

    The minister pointed out that NAM foreign ministers, who in their majority are also members of the Islamic Conference, have said in their communique that they consider Turkish intransigence responsible for the absence of a solution in Cyprus.

    London, Apr 30 (CNA) - Britain's Minister for Europe, Peter Hain, has reiterated his government's support to the role of the UN in the ongoing direct talks between Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, aiming to reach a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem.

    Hamburg, Apr 30 (CNA) - One of the two Airbus 319 planes purchased by Cyprus Airways was here today officially handed to the Chairman of the company's board of directors Charis Loizides by Vice President of the Europe Airbus sales department Thierry Schutte.

    Airbus "Nikoklis" was handed to Cyprus Airways during a special ceremony at the A319 assembly factory in Hamburg, Germany. The second plane will be delivered in June.

    Nicosia, Apr 30 (CNA) - Cyprus' Permanent Representative at the Council of Europe, Ambassador Christoforos Yiangou, submitted today the Ratification Document of Protocol 12 in the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, in the presence of the Council's Secretary General Walter Schwimmer.

    Clerides starts work on Denktash's non-paper tomorrow

    Nicosia, Apr 30 (CNA) - Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides will start working tomorrow on the non-paper submitted by Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash at their face-to-face meeting yesterday.

    The President said he received 19-page-long non-paper a few minutes before yesterday's meeting began and that "on Wednesday I will be working on the response".
