    Cyprus ratifies Convention for the protection of individuals

    Nicosia, Feb 22 (CNA) -- Cyprus Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Christoforos Yiangou handed yesterday in Strasbourg the instrument of ratification of the Convention for the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data.

    An official press release said that the Convention aims at safeguarding everyone's rights and fundamental freedoms and in particular the right to the respect of privacy, with regard to the automatic processing of personal data.
