New High Commissioner to Kenya presents his credentials

Nicosia, Feb 6 (CNA) -- Kenyan President Daniel Moi has expressed his country's continuing support to the Cyprus government and people for their struggle to reunite the island and heal the wounds inflicted upon it by the Turkish invasion of 1974.

Nicosia, Feb 7 (CNA) -- The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

On Friday Feb 8 and Saturday Feb 9 the weather fine and mainly sunny. The winds light to moderate the temperature, unseasonally high, between 8C min and 21 max. Over the coast and between 6C min and 19C max inland.

Outlook for Sunday Feb 10 and Monday Feb 11: The weather locally cloudy at times with isolated showers. The temperature between 7C and 18 max over the coast and between 6C min and 16C max inland.

Cyprus is moving quickly towards EU, says Danish Foreign Minister

Nicosia, Feb 7 (CNA) -- Denmarks Minister of Foreign Affairs Per Stig Moller, who was here on a two-day visit, is very optimistic about the prospects of the island's accession to the European Union and the talks for a Cyprus settlement.

Speaking after a meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides, Moller said "it has been very encouraging to notice that Cyprus is moving very quickly forward towards the European Union", the presidency of which his country will assume in July.

EU official voices Commission's support for Cyprus talks

Nicosia, Feb 7 (CNA) - The support of the European Commission for the process of the direct talks on the Cyprus problem was voiced here today by the Director General of the Enlargement Directorate of the European Union Michael Leigh, after a meeting with George Vassiliou, who heads the negotiating team for the accession of Cyprus to the EU.
