Bad weather in Greece makes Cyprus Airways reschedule flights

Nicosia, Jan 6 (CNA) - Cyprus Airways have had to cancel three flights to Athens this morning and reschedule them for tomorrow, as Greece closed its Eleftherios Venizelos airport in the capital, due to bad weather. Meanwhile, two Cyprus Airways aircraft are stranded in Athens.

Torrent reaches Nicosia as rainwater pours into dams

Nicosia, Jan 6 (CNA) - Water continues to flow into Cyprus dams, as rain keeps pouring down on the island. Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Costas Themistocleous said that over the five first days of January, the rainfall was measured at 50% of the normal for the whole month.

Greek and Turkish Cypriots hope for a settlement in 2002

Nicosia, Jan 6 (CNA) -- Greek and Turkish Cypriot party leaders yesterday expressed their common wish for a settlement of the Cyprus problem as soon as possible, during their first joint bicommunal New Year celebration at Ledra Palace in the Nicosia buffer zone.
