[01] Greek President reiterates solidarity to Cyprus1330:CYPPRESS:01Greek President reiterates solidarity to Cyprus Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) -- Cyprus new Ambassador to Greece Leonidas Pantelides presented Thursday his credentials to Greek President Constantinos Stephanopoulos, who wished for a just settlement of the Cyprus question, the soonest possible, and expressed Greece's unequivocal solidarity to efforts made to reach a solution. On his part Pantelides assured Stephanopoulos that he himself and his aides would do their best to fulfill their task during this difficult period, as he said. Meanwhile, Cyprus High Commissioner to Africa Elias Eliades presented last week his credentials to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Cassam Uteem. Eliades is the first High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to this country. Eliades briefed Uteem on the latest developments in the Cyprus question and expressed hope that the Republic of Mauritius will continue to support Cyprus at the Security Council and other international fora and especially at the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. [02] CY flights run late due to bad weather conditions1350:CYPPRESS:02CY flights due to bad weather conditions Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) - Some 400 Cyprus Airways (CY) passengers who were to travel last night from Heraklion, Crete, to Cyprus had to spend their night at Heraklion airport premises since, due to bad weather conditions, CY airplanes could not land to Crete. CY Press and Public Affairs Director Tassos Angelis told CNA that Heraklion airport is now open and passengers, students and Cyprus' National Guard officers, will be carried to Cyprus tonight. He also said that, due to the bad weather conditions, a CY aircraft that was flying today for Thessaloniki was diverted and landed at Athens airport, until the reopening of Thessaloniki airport. Another CY flight to Zurich also ran late as Zurich's airport was closed and a CY flight Larnaca - Budapest - Warsaw was diverted to Larnaca since the aicraft could not land to Warsaw.
