    [01] Cyprus Foreign Minister - Brussels

    Nicosia, Oct 30 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides leaves on Sunday (November 4) for Brussels to participate in the Euro- Mediterranean Foreign Ministers meeting to be held between 5 - 6 November.

    According to a European Commission press release, the Foreign Ministers will discuss political and security questions, including the Middle East Peace Process, in the light of the situation created by the 11 September attacks in the US.| CNA/RM/GP/2001

    [02] Immigration officer - Jailed

    Nicosia, Oct 30 (CNA) -- A senior immigration officer was jailed today for 20 months on each of the nine charges he was found guilty of in connection with the illegal issue of visas. All sentences will run concurrently and started running on Thursday, 25 October when he was found guilty.

    Judge Stallo Iosif of the Nicosia District Court said that mitigating circumstances relating to a clean police record, health and financial concerns and personal and family matters were taken into consideration before passing sentence.|
