Nicosia, Aug 2 (CNA) -- British High Commissioner in Nicosia Edward Clay appeared cautiously optimistic today that UN peace talks on Cyprus will resume but indicated that it is up to the UN, President Glafcos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash to make a move in that direction.

Speaking after a 90-minute long meeting with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, Clay expressed regret over the loss of time since last November, when Denktash interrupted the talks, and said London has been working for the resumption of the talks and hopes they will be constructive. .
