    [03] Foreign Minister - Funeral - Exhumed 1974 remains

Nicosia, Jun 30 (CNA) -- Kaliopi Avraam, an elderly lady who was killed with Greek officers serving in Cyprus during the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island, was finally laid to rest today and tributes poured in for her courage and love for the young men who were killed with her during the Turkish offensive.

Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said Avraam, whom the Greek officers used to call "our grandmother", was a beacon of courage, pride, honour and self-denial, noting that she steadfastly refused to leave her house, bordering a military post, and abandon her adopted children.

    [04] President Clerides - Credentials - Brazil - Mexico

Nicosia, Jun 30 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides has said he expects the Turkish Cypriot side to return to the UN-led talks and show the necessary will to negotiate honestly and constructively, abandoning its intransigent positions and demands, with a view to finding a just settlement of the Cyprus question.

"We believe that now the international circumstances are favourable for a lasting and viable solution of the problem based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation and respect for human rights of both the Greek and the Turkish Cypriot communities," the President added.
