    [02] Cyprus - UN report - Letter

Nicosia, Jun 1 (CNA) -- Cyprus has refuted Turkish claims that the UN should note in its six-monthly report on the renewal of the peace-keeping force in Cyprus that it needs the consent of the Turkish Cypriot side.

In a letter to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Cyprus' permanent representative to the UN Sotirios Zackheos said the continuing effort by the government of Turkey and its subordinate local administration in Turkish occupied Cyprus to exploit the renewal of UNFICYP has forced him to outline in writing the government's positions on the matter.
