[01] Cyprus - Permanent Representative - ECHR judgment

Nicosia, May 20 (CNA) -- Cyprus' Permanent Representative to the UÍ in Geneva, Alexandros Vikis, has handed over to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, a letter referring to the 4th Inter-state application of the Cyprus Republic against Turkey in the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) as well as the Court's recent judgment.

In the letter, Vikis notes Turkey has been found guilty of massive violations of human rights of the people of Cyprus, including the rights of Greek Cypriot refugees to their properties and their right to return to their homes, the rights of the missing persons, the rights of the relatives of the missing persons and the rights of some 500 Greek Cypriots who have remained in the northern areas of the island occupied by Turkey since 1974.
