[01] Israeli Foreign Minister - Cyprus - Visit
Nicosia, Apr 22 (CNA) -- Israel's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime
Minister Shimon Peres is expected here late today at the invitation of
Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
It was officially announced that Peres will meet and have official talks
with Minister Kasoulides on Monday, while earlier he will be received by
President Glafcos Clerides.

[02] Commonwealth Secretary General - Cyprus - Visit
Nicosia, Apr 22 (CNA) -- Secretary General of the Commonwealth Donald
McKinnon arrives here today for a two-day official visit during which he
will be received by President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides and House
President Spyros Kyprianou and will have official talks with Cyprus Foreign
Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
During his stay, McKinnon will also speak at the Association of
Commonwealth Universities Conference of Executive Heads opening here
tomorrow and ending April 26, with the participation of some 280 executive
heads from 35 countries.

[03] Popular Bank - Australia
Nicosia, Apr 22 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Popular Bank has secured permission by
the Australian authorities to have full operations in the country, and
after having representation offices for some 15 years it has opened two
branches in Sydney and will operate soon another three in Melbourne, Okli
and Adelaide.
According to a press release, Popular Bank (Australia) Ltd., the first
Cyprot bank to begin operations in Australia, offers a broad spectrum of
products and services that will fully cover the needs of its clients,
mainly Greeks and Cypriots.

[04] Cyprus Finance Minister - EU meeting
Nicosia, Apr 22 (CNA) – Finance Minister Takis Klerides has said the first
meeting of European Union Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors with
their counterparts from the 13 candidate countries, that wrapped up in
Sweden yesterday, was an "important moment" as it "shows the will of the 15
member states to go ahead with enlargement".
Speaking to CNA from Sweden today, Klerides said most candidate states face
similar problems and that Cyprus is ready to present an economic programme
of convergence with the EU aquis communautaire (laws and regulations) by
the end of this month.
