    [01] Weather forecast for Cyprus

    icosia, pr 19 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday : 20/04/2001 to 21/04/2001

    The weather will be fine with some patchy cloud.

    The wind will prevail west up to moderate 3 to 4 bf and the state of sea slight. The temperatures will increase and it will be 26 to 29 C. The Minimum will be 12 to 14 C.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 22/04/2001 to 23/04/2001

    The weather on Saturday will be mainly fine. On Monday the weather will become partly cloudy with showers. The temperature on Monday is expected to decrease.

    Sea Temperature: 19 C

    [03] President Clerides - President Mubarak

    Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) - Presidents of Cyprus and Egypt, Glafcos Clerides and Hosni Mubarak, have agreed on the need for the immediate resumption of the talks aimed at reaching a settlement in Cyprus as well as the continuation of the Middle East peace process, during a half-hour meeting in Egypt today.

    Cyprus Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou told his daily briefing here today there was an "identity of views" during the meeting, while he underlined the importance of President Clerides' week-long visit to Egypt for the further development of bilateral relations.

    [04] Cyprus government - Turkish Foreign Minister - Threats

    Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) - he threats made by Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem, that Cyprus' accession to the European Union would be a "Pyrrhic victory", constitute Ankara's "trump card" in its effort to obstruct the Republic's accession, Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said here today.

    Commenting on Cem's statements, made before his departure after an illegal visit to the Turkish-occupied areas of the island on Wednesday, Kasoulides described them as "a kind of threat and intimidation" against the Cyprus government and the EU itself that would not be accepted.

    [05] Cyprus - Czech Foreign Ministers - Talks

    Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jan Kavan expressed here today the belief that Cyprus' accession to the European Union would help to find a solution of the Cyprus problem and said his country would have liked to see an early peaceful solution in line with the United Nations relevant resolutions.

    Kavan was speaking during a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides, after talks they had on the Cyprus problem, the two countries' bid to join the EU, bilateral relations and the situation in the Balkans and other areas of common concern.

    [06] Cyprus President - Egyptian Foreign Minister - Meeting

    By Riana Magidou Cairo, Apr 19 (CNA) Egypt supports a solution to the Cyprus problem based on UN resolutions, Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said here tonight after a half-hour meeting with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides at his hotel in Cairo.

    Speaking after his meeting with President Clerides, who is on a six-day private visit to Egypt, Moussa said they discussed the Cyprus problem, the negative developments in Palestine-Israeli relations and other issues relating to the Mediterranean region.
