[02] Strike suspended - Negotiations to take place
Nicosia, Apr 2 (CNA) -- Civil servants, bank employees and workers at the
Cyprus Electricity Authority announced here today their decision to call
off their 48- hour strike, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday to protest
against government plans to introduce a national health scheme they
consider could deprive them of some of their privileges.
The announcement was made following intense consultations among interested
parties on specific provisions of the national health scheme and
negotiations are now expected to take place to iron out differences on some
of the provisions of the scheme.

[03] Cyprus - European Court of Auditors
Nicosia, Apr 2 (CNA) -- A European Court of Auditors (ECA) delegation
headed by its President Jan Karlsson is in Cyprus on a four-day working
visit aiming at improving and intensifying the cooperation with the Supreme
Audit Institutions of the candidate countries.
According to a European Union press release, the ECA, an independent EU
Institution, has been intensifying the exchange of information at different
levels of national administrations and aims at setting - up national
systems of internal control and auditing of EU funds to candidate
countries.
